NAPW ACTION!01/26/2007
The bell rings, and we're off. Krusty Kid Paul wastes no time, blasting away at O'Brien with heavy hitting right hands. A knee smash and an elbow quickly follow, and Krusty caps it with a step back and big boot - ducked under by O'Brien, who clips the knee of his opponent. He doesn't give KKP any time to recover, and immediately picks him up and drops him with an STO Takedown. He mounts him, and starts CHOKING him blatantly, drawing boos from the crowd. The ref tries to break it, but O'Brien shuts him up. The war of words between these two men has gotten a bit too personal for O'Brien, whose choke was just broken by a KKP eye poke! Paul gets up and clotheslines O'Brien to the mat. O'Brien pops up kicks Paul in the groin! Follows with a superkick! He gos right into the cover, but only gets two before KKP kicks out. O'Brien turns and starts to mouth off to referee Morgan Smythe, who gives it right back to him. He's so distracted that he doesn't see the KKP SPINEBUSTER that crunches him against the mat! KKP mounts him and starts to fire away with punches. Smythe, now pissed off, is letting them just have at it! O'Brien with a rake of the eye gets KKP off of him, and then goes downstairs as he backs up, bringing him to his knees. O'Brien stands up and starts to taunt the crowd, again displaying total disregard for his opponent - and again paying the price for it. LOW BLOW! Both men are now down, holding their unmentionables in pain. KKP is the first to get up, and he picks O'Brien up and sends him into the ropes. He steps forward and plants O'Brien with a nice flapjack, getting some good elevation on it. O'Brien slams off the mat, but uses the momentum to bounce up and absolutely LACE KKP with a step-up enziguri! O'Brien back-somersaults over and up and then locks in the Insatiable Insanity, right in the middle of the ring! It doesn't look good for KKP....because the enziguri caught him in the temple and knocked him unconcious. Smythe checks him, and then calls for the bell! Your winner by knockout? Jay O'Brien. Look out for this kid, folks. He's all kinds of talented, with cockiness and an attitude to boot!
Saffire and Maxx lock up, centre of the ring, in what looks like a traditional big man-small man encounter, with Saffire's size and power too much for the Xtreme one in close quarters. Saffire muscles Maxx about, tossing him round the ring like a rag doll, before Xtreme decides it's time for a new strategy. Drawing Saffire in, Maxx hits a basement dropkick to the knee, before unloading a series of stiff kicks to the leg. Saffire hobbles backward, giving enough seperation for Maxx to bounce off the ropes and nail a sweet flying clothesline, taking the giant "Grey Knight" down. Xtreme is all over his man now, using hit-and-run tactics, with kicks, stomps, and even a shining wizard, with some SERIOUS hang time, right to the back of the head. Saffire struggles to his feet as Maxx heads up top. He's looking for... a HIGH flying cross body!! Takes Saffire down, straight into a cove -- no! Saffire rolling through! He's got the tights, and he's grabbing a hold of the bottom rope for extra leverage!! ONE, TWO, THREE--- but the referee not registering the win! Saffire up, he thinks he's won it, but the referee spotted the illegal use of the bottom rope! Saffire celebrating, but the referee calling him back! The ref explaining to Saffire that he caught him cheating! Saffire can't believe it! He's LIVID! Saffire, he's gonna nail the ref, is he -- Maxx Xtreme back to his feet, grabs Saffire, hooks him up... BRAINBUSTER! Maxx Xtreme just PLANTED the big man! He SNAPPED him over! Maxx pointing to the top! He's going to take another risk... X MARKS THE SPOT!! What a beautiful frog splash!! Maxx hooks the leg, and we've got a ONE, a TWO, and a THREE!! Maxx Xtreme picks up his first victory in New Alberta Pro Wrestling, and as for Jack Saffire? Well he's got to think he just got screwed!
Both men in the ring, the former 3-time TV champ and the punk upstart. Suddenly Commissioner R. Joseph Winchell III comes out? "Hey hey hey hey hey! I look in the ring I see two men, one whom I appreciate, and one whom I don't. NAPW's roster is just a little bit too big these days, and I really don't want to end the firing streak I started a couple weeks ago. So this match here? The loser will be OUT OF JOB. And I know who I'd like to see win... Mr. Travelli, if you WOULD..." The Don grins and cracks his knuckles, Johnny Rotten however wears an expression of anxiety, almost as if he's been fearing this very thing. CRACK. The Don drops him with a cheap shot! And as is the man's custom, he is all over Rotten after that opening. Rights and lefts, brawling. Into the corner, referee wants a break, eye gouge. Travelli catches his man coming out with a big DDT! One, two, Rotten kicks out. Travelli flicks his hands out from his chin in a clear derogatory gesture, that means Sleepa Widda Fishes and it's going to be a career for Johnny Rotten. The Don slaps on the deadly hold! This is going to be it! The referee raises the arm once, it drops. TWICE, it drops. Three times --- hold the red phone! Johnny Rotten has found a reserve of energy, the arm is up and shaking. Travelli looks nervous, trying to tighten the hold. Rotten can't quite get free though, and if he can't, his second wind means nothing. Fortunately Rotten's been watching his Bret Hart DVD. He walks up the corner and pushes backwards ala Hitman vs Austin I, landing on top of Travelli for a pin, one, two, th--- The Don lets go of the Sleepa and kicks out in a hurry. He stomps Rotten and gets back up, irish whip, Rotten ducks the clothesline and grabs a Side Effect! Running Shooting Star follows up one, two, KICK OUT. Almost had him there, The Don with a swing and a miss as Rotten ducks and swings behind, leaping up... Reverse Huracanrana! Don Travelli's head spiked into the canvas! Johnny Rotten springs up to the top rope, looks out over the anticipatory crowd, and flies high, crashing down on Travelli with a picture perfect Swanton Bomb. What elevation on that, and as Rotten hooks the leg the crowd knows it's going to be one, two, three! Johnny Rotten gets win #2 and in the process, Don Travelli's comeback bid is cut short before it even gets started. Commissioner Winchell isn't all that pleased with the result, seeing this punk get one over The Don. "Bet you're real pleased, huh Rotten? You enjoy it while it lasts! And that won't be for long! Because at COLD SNAP I'm going to match you up with the undefeated new sensation in New Alberta Pro... Johnny Rotten, you aren't ready for JAY O'BRIEN!" Rotten in the ring says "Bring it on!" and fails to notice Jay O'Brien come in from the crowd... turn around Rotten SUPERKICK! O'Brien with an ugly smile on his face as he looks down at Rotten through veils of dark hair.
The referee calls for the bell as Nightmare and Thomas Young start to circle each other in the ring. They go to tie up but Young ducks under at the last moment and rolls to the outside. As Nightmare looks on, Young points to his head as if saying "I'm smarter than you!" Nightmare rolls to the outside just as Young slides back into the ring again frustrating Nightmare. Nightmare isn't going to let Young get to him though and he goes to climb into the ring only to get a baseball slide to the chest for his trouble. Nightmare staggers back and Young slides outside and starts to lay into his foe with big right hands to the head. Nightmare is backed up against the ring barrier as Young goes for a running clothesline. Nightmare gets a boot up into the face of Young and then hooks him around the waist, hoists him up and gives him a hotshot across the guard railing. The referees count is up to five and Nightmare peels Young off of the floor and rolls him back into the ring. Once both men are back inside Nightmare shoots Young into the ropes but drops his head a moment to soon. Young puts on the breaks and hits a kneelift onto the shocked Nightmare. Nightmare stumbles back and gets taken off of his feet with a running STO! Young goes for a cover only to get a two count. Young starts to pulls Nightmare off of the mat only to have his opponent nail a jawbreaker from nowhere! Thomas Young lets go of Nightmare and holds the lower half of his face no doubt making sure all of his teeth are still there. Nightmare grabs an arm of Young and drops him with a short arm clothesline. Nightmare is able to get a count of two before Young kicks out. Nightmare pulls Young off of the mat and scoops him up for a body slam but Young wiggles free and slips down behind Nightmare. Young grabs Nightmare from behind and hits an inverted DDT. Instead of going for a pin Young mounts Nightmare and starts to throw stiff rights and lefts at the head of his opponent. Nightmare shoves Young off of him and tries to get to his feet only to get caught with a swinging neckbreaker by a determined Young. A count of two is all he's able to get as Nightmare kicks out with authority. Young pulls Nightmare off of the mat but finds himself caught with a thumb to the eye. Nightmare drives a knee into the ribs of Young, then another and finally a third heavy knee into the rib cage sending Young into a near corner gasping for breath. Nightmare whips him across the ring into the far corner and follows him in with a brutal clothesline! Young drops to the mat and rolls under the bottom rope to the ring apron. Nightmare reaches over the tope rope and grabs Young by the hair, pulling him to his feet. Young hooks the head of Nightmare and drops down, hanging his man across the top rope. Young then reaches in and grabs the legs of Nightmare pulling him off of his feet. Young pulls Nightmare out of the ring and tries to ram his head into the ringpost only to have it blocked. Nightmare shoves Young away and drops him with a brutal right hand to the head. Nightmare gets a wild look in his eyes and drags Young over to the time keepers table. Frank Warburton flees the scene as Nightmare hoists Young up and powerbombs him through the time keepers table! The crowd showers him with a happy "Holy Sh*t!!" chant. The referee is livid and is in the face of Nightmare threatening him with everything under the sun. Nightmare shakes his head, only half paying attention no doubt and pulls Young out of the rubble of the table. Nightmare rolls Thomas Young into the ring and slides in behind him. Once all three men are in the ring Night mare hooks a leg and goes for the cover, one, two, thr....NO! Young rolls a shoulder and breaks the count! Nightmare looks shocked as Young actually tries to get up. Nightmare looks at his hands, the wild expression in his eyes more prominent as he quickly manages to hook Young in a cross face chicken wing complete with body scissors. He wrenches back like crazy Bob Backlund, screaming. Young valiantly tries to break free, trying to get a foot on the ropes but the effects of the table have taken their toll. After a few tense seconds Young has no choice but to tap out! Nightmare has won the match, but he won't let go for the hold! The referee tries to pull Nightmare off, to no avail, it's locked in like a trap-jaw on a bear leg. The referee calls the bell as Nightmare attempts to tear Young's arm out of his socket. What the hell has gotten into this man? Here come some more officials to pry Nightmare off, as well as Jeff James and Prince Darko. Nightmare is convinced to break the hold and rolls out of the ring just before Darko and James get in. He walks up the aisle, the fans mostly cheering but some confused... Nightmare looks oblivious to what's around him, the anger inside of him has only grown after that victory... In the ring Jeff James and Darko are now exchanging some heated words in trying to help Young up, these two take each other on later tonight. We could see two-thirds of the TV title match right now --- Young shoves both men away. He's clearly in pain, frustrated and angry. He rolls out of the ring and doesn't look back at James and Darko, cradling his arm up the aisle. Could the tensions in The Foundation may have escalated past the point of no-return?
The bell sounds and Dio Muerte and Marcus Chamberlain have already locked up in collar-elbow fashion. Chamberlain latches in a headlock which Dio easily escapes. Dio now behind Chamberlain gives him a stiff kick to the back of the knees which causes Chamberlain to drop...POW! Shuffle Sidekick to the back of Chamberlains head. Chamberlain falls limp and Dio jumps for the pin. One! Two! Shoulder up! Dio grabs hold of Chamberlain and brings him to his feet. Dio with the Irish whip, reversed by Chamberlain and Dio is Irish whiped...He rebounds and RIGHT into a powerslam! Chamberlain grins and hooks the leg. One! Two! Kickout! Chamberlain looks disappointed and hits Dio across the face. Chamberlain brings Dio to his feet and receives a knee from Muerte. Dio lets out a maniacal battle cry and DEMORTALI-Reversed by Chamberlain, Northern Lights Suplex! Pin! One! Two! Thre- near fall! Chamberlain hits the mat, he was sure that was it. He gets up to his feet and heads onto the apron. Springboard Leg drop connects! With the mat! Dio rolls out last second and is quickly up to his feet, then delivers a HARD stomp to the chest of Marcus Chamberlain knocking the wind out of him. Dio then leaps onto the top turnbuckle and SOARS with a Frog Splash! He has the pin, One! Two! Thre-SHOULDER UP! Marcus Chamberlain barely makes it out! Dio Muerte is angry and gives Marcus a few hard blows to the head. Dio then brings Marcus to his feet and gives him a hard knife-edge chop. And another, and another and one more! Marcus reels into the ropes. Dio grabs him and Irish whips him into the ropes and follows behind closely, Dio goes for the clothesline, Marcus ducks and hits him with a bulldog. He's signaling for it! Marcus drags dio to the center of the ring and..THE ZERO CLUTCH IS LOCKED IN! Dio's face is just being ground into the mat. I don't think he can take this much longer...What!? Marcus Chamberlains facial expression changes completely and he releases the zero clutch and falls to the mat holding his family jewels. Dio then crawls over to the apron and tries to gain a breather...But by the time he's done that an angry Marcus Chamberlain has gotten up to his feet and is right behind Dio, he leans over to grab Dio and POW! BAT TO THE SKULL! Chamberlain collapses and Dio hooks the leg, ONE! TWO! THREE!
Prince Darko enters first, noticeably absent is Thomas Young. Mr. B is nowhere to be found either. Darko of course is his usual self-assured, confident (some would say cocky) self. "The Show" Chad Kurtis enters second, hoodie low over his face. He hits ringside and tosses the hood into the crowd, leaping to the ring apron and into the ring. He continues to wear the protective facemask for his healing broken nose, the result of a Foundation attack several weeks ago. The champion enters third, TV Title around his waist. It's a record setting title reign for Jeff James, but he's against some tough odds here tonight. The earlier events with his brother Thomas, will they have an effect on James or Darko, or both? It's anybody's match! All three men in the ring, looking from one to the other. Darko is mouthing off to James, saying something about "the title's cursed you. I can save you. You just need to drop the belt." James stays silent, nostrils flaring. Jeff James and Prince Darko nose-to-nose in the center of the ring. Unfortunately for them, "The Show" isn't pleased to be a third-wheel in this "family feud." He plows into both men firing forearm shots! Forearm shots for all! The flashy, high-flying Show gets an advantage here, he fires Darko to the ropes with an irish whip. That's reversed though, Darko tries a back body drop, The Show somersaults over Darko's back and explodes with a flying forearm onto Jeff James! Darko turns around, he takes a flipping dropkick in the mush. The Show keeping things fast and furious in the early going, he catches a charging Jeff James and sends him into the turnbuckle. Darko is next to try and Kurtis tosses him into James... then hits a Stinger Splash on both men! Darko stumbles forward, the champion falls to the canvas. Kurtis looks and jumps up one, two, three --- BEST! MOONSAULT! EVER! Connects on Jeff James! One, two, Darko saves. James may or may not have kicked out, Prince Darko wasn't going to let the match end there. Darko with a scoop slam on The Show, drops an elbow, Show rolls out of the way and looks for a springboard dropkick --- Darko sidesteps, Show crash lands on the canvas. Darko all over his man with a sidewalk slam into a cover, The Show kicks out. Darko hooks his man for a brainbuster... he's holding The Show up there! And watch Jeff James, the man is on the top rope all of a sudden! James flies into a dropkick on Show, and then Darko drops him with the suplex. What a combination, you'd think The Foundation are on the same page as Kurtis rolls to the ring apron. School-boy by Jeff James on Darko before he can pin Show! One, two, Darko gets out. James and Darko with a staredown, James lays into his brother's tag partner. Darko however reverses an irish whip and gets a drop-toehold on James. He follows up by driving the point of his elbow into the back of James' head, then looking for a Camel Clutch. James able to make the ropes, hold is broken. Darko pulling James up by the hair, SLAP. He just slapped Jeff James in the mouth! James recoils but doesn't retaliate... oh yes he does! Crash Landing! One, two, Darko kicks out. James pulls the man up, irish whip, Darko reverses, James holds the ropes THE SHOW SUPERKICK! Out of NOWHERE The Show knocks Darko's head off with the superkick. James then hits his jumping superkick to up the ante on The Show! One, two, kick-out by The Show. James heads up top, he likes his flying lariat. But The Show is equally at home on the top rope, he follows up and fires away on James. These two high-fliers having it out in a precarious position ... but it's The Show who gets the better of it, nailing a Frankensteiner off the top rope! Classic Scott Steiner style. You know. Before the roids immobilized him. Anyways. The Show wants a pin, he gets two off of it. Never count the TV Champion out. The Show wraps around James for a german suplex, he gets one and holds on... he gets another rolling German Suplex, he likes this in three --- DARKO IN COUNTERED! The Show avoids Darko's lariat and before the Prince of Zamunda can register what's happened, The Show is now german suplexing HIM. One! A second! Darko reaches out for the ropes, trying to prevent the third one... Jeff James gets behind The Show! HE gets a German Suplex on The Show... who's suplexing Darko! Bodies crash all over the canvas, everybody's down! It's anybody's match right now as each of three men struggle to their feet. Jeff James with the instincts of a champion is first up, and quickly grabs the nearest man for the James Effect! Darko fights him for it, and meanwhile The Show once again hits the springboard, this time connecting on both men! James gets knocked to the outside, and The Show grabs Darko's head between his legs. He rolls his hands in the air, it's time for... CK FINALE! Just like that! The Show covers, it's over ONE, TWO, TH--- JEFF JAMES SAVES! He blasts Kurtis in the head and the two spill under the bottom rope to the concrete. The Show fires on James. James grabs the mask and pulls it back, snapping it on Kurtis' face. Geez, that was nasty. Wait a damn minute, Jeff James rips the mask off and DDTs Kurtis on the concrete floor, face-first. Oh my God. Jeff James leans against the apron... he looks shocked at what he just did. Kurtis came so close to taking the TV Title from James with the CK Finale... Jeff James looks over the scene, Kurtis is face-down writhing in pain. James looks confused as he rolls back into the ring, almost as if he doesn't want to admit he just did that. He tries to shake it off, spying the prone Prince Darko. James goes to the top rope... Shooting Star Leg Drop nobody home! Darko was playing possum. James went high risk and got nothing for his efforts, except a Toe Kick and a Zamunda Driver! Darko just plowed James into the canvas and the cover gets one, two... THREE. The record-breaking title reign of Jeff James is OVER... and to the shock of this crowd, Prince Darko is now the NAPW Television Champion! The arena isn't silent, but nobody is quite sure how to react, least of all Jeff James. Holding his head, he pulls himself up to one knee and looks as referee Dick Kiebiech hands Prince Darko the Television title belt. Darko looks oddly at peace, almost serene, lost in the gold. In the midst of this Matthew Kurtis has made his way out to ringside to check on his brother with a couple EMTs. Chad is up, his nose bloody. The EMTs sit him on a chair as Matt looks up at the ring with some heat, but he restrains himself. Darko holds the strap... and then Jeff James is there. James is holding his head, starting right into the eyes of Prince Darko. The tension between the two men is palpable... What is going to happen? Nightmare happens. A steel chair flashes, knocking Darko in the back of the head. James looks up in time to see Nightmare swing and connect to the former champion's noggin. Nightmare brings the chair down across Darko's back for good measure, then swings again at Jeff James. James gets flattened. Nightmare looks down at the man, face twisted. The crowd is silent. Nightmare then raises the chair up again... DOWN. Again... DOWN. Again... DOWN. AGAIN... DOWN--- MATTHEW KURTIS RIPS IT OUT OF NIGHTMARE'S HANDS. The huge Angry American is looking at Nightmare in disgust, asking "What the hell are you doing?". He tosses the chair out of the ring violently. Nightmare looks at Kurtis with wide-eyes and bared teeth... he fires at Kurtis! Matthew fires back! It's a slug-fest! Nightmare and Kurtis, they're supposed to be partners at Cold Snap! What in the hell is going on --- the tall, huge Kurtis with the advantage, he's wearing Nightmare out, LARIAT sends Nightmare to the floor! Kurtis shakes his head at the carnage and turns to go back out to his brother, his main concern. CRACK. Nightmare with his chair again across the back of Matthew Kurtis! Matt turns around, still on his feet, and now he's really mad CRACK. Nightmare again with the chair to the face of Matthew Kurtis! Matt staggers backwards, and Nightmare gets one more that sends Matt toppling over the top rope to the floor below. The EMTs and officials are restraining Chad Kurtis from getting in the ring... Nightmare is standing tall, raising the chair high to a chorus of boos from the crowd. He doesn't care. He looks down at Jeff James, the former TV Champion... glances at Darko and picks up the TV Belt. He tosses it down in the center of the ring, then drops the chair over Jeff James. Nightmare raises his arms high...
What in the hell is going to happen at Cold Snap?!
