NAPW ACTION!10/27/2006
"A Better Way" by The Salads opens up Action! North T. Gunderson, along with Tex, walks out to a great amount of cheers. He is really focused until he gets in the ring. Then he sees the referee: HENRY ANDREWS. North shakes his head. Obie Trice raps David Banks to the ring. The North Carolina native looks very confident going to the ring. He has a nice ovation to welcome him as well. The two shake hands and the bell sounds. David Banks and North lock up. North gets a headlock, Banks pushes him off, North off the ropes ducks a clothesline. Banks turns around is hit with a super-kick. North covers Banks... One.. Two... Kick-out. North climbs the top rope and waits for Banks to get up. Banks rises, then turns around. North flies with a clothesline. He nails Banks. Another cover.. One...Two.. Banks gets the ropes, using his first rope break. North looks to stay on the attack. But Banks rolls out of the ring. North doesn't follow him out. Banks takes a twelve count to come in. North attempts the Shining Wizard as soon as Banks rolls in. He gets blocked. Banks grabs the ankle and North fights off the Ankle lock. North gets away. Banks grabs North from behind. German suplex... Then ANOTHER... Banks is going for the trifecta... and North elbows him away. North with a standing switch. He rolls up Banks. Not even a one count. Banks on his, kicks the rising Gunderson in the head. Gunderson is down. Banks gets up and picks North T up for a snap suplex. The cover. One... Two... North uses HIS first rope break. Banks looks slightly frustrated but continues his path. He picks North up and sends him into the far corner. He rushes after him, but eats a North T boot. North grabs Banks places him on the top rope. He climbs up and LEMON LIME TANG! The top rope face buster that would anger Jeff Jarrett. Jeff has never done one better. The cover. One... Two....... A slow count by Andrews as he was looking at Tex. Tex says she's done nothing wrong, and she is right. Banks got an assist by Andrews who was confused by the cheering of Tex. North is mad and gets in the face of Andrews. Banks from behind... One...Two... No sir, kick-out by North. Banks climbs the corner post. He is up top. CROSS BODY! North rolls through. One... Two... rope break! Second one by Banks. North gets up and grabs up Banks. David feels the GHETTO BLASTER. North applies the Million Dollar Dream. Banks is struggling. He tries to break free, but quickly uses his last rope break before he fades out. North smiles, knowing the advantage. He tries to get it on Banks again, but to no avail. Banks reverses the attempt with a judo over the shoulder throw. Banks looks at the downed North, and heads to the corner. He hits a double jump MOONSAULT. The cover.. One...Two.. North with a shoulder up. Banks doesn't stop there and heads for the ankle. He applies the Ankle-lock submission. North is fighting it. He turns over and kicks Banks... But Banks manages to keep it on. He sits down with it and laces the legs. North is in pain. He crawls toward the ropes. He is inching his way to them. Banks wrenches and the pain is expressed very vividly on North's face. North is almost to ropes. He has his hand out and reaches. His hand only hits canvas. He reaches again and is an inch away, as his hand again hits canvas trying to gain a grip. The bell sounds, just as North reaches the ropes... and Frank announces "The winner via tap-out, David Banks!" David celebrates the first win of the tournament. North looks enraged as he is yelling at Andrews. "I WASN'T TAPPING, I WAS REACHING FOR THE ROPES." Andrews ignores him and leaves the ring. Tex consoles North who loses another controversial match.
Jeff James, of course, challenging for the TV Title at Anniversary Assault against The Yellow Chicken... but tonight he's against the hungry young rookie from Pearl Harbor, Chris Kamikaze! James attacks before the bell with fire comin' out his eyes. Or arse. This metaphor's fallen apart completely. Kamikaze tries to fight back but all he gets for his effort is a Side Effect for two. James... STIFF kicks Kamikaze in the small of the back! CK yelps and James gives him a flipping neck-breaker, Curt Hennig style that snaps Kamikaze back. Not enough for you? SEATED DROPKICK TO THE FACE! That's gotta be all, no, Kamikaze gets a shoulder up. Jeff James pulls his man up and screams at the crowd to "watch this." BAM. Legsweep... standing moonsault! Double knee-drop to the face! Good God, Kamikaze is down and out, but James doesn't go for a cover. He's heading to the top rope... Jeff James flies... nobody home! Chris Kamikaze rolled out of the way and James pancakes right on the canvas. Kamikaze climbs to the top rope this time, he's going for the Spiral Tap - he calls it "Type 99!" Kamikaze gets ready to fly and OH MY GOD. Chris Kamikaze slips off the top rope and falls flat on his face! Jeff James is up, he's waiting... Kamikaze gets up, near tears that he messed up his big move, here's James, boot to the gut, then the JAMES EFFECT! One, two, three, that's all she wrote. Jeff James rolls out of the ring, making the "belt will be mine" motion around his waist. Such an angry young man.
David Banks, already worn down from his win over Gunderson, starts the match by calling for a test of strength. Dez Carter obliges, and twists Banks' hands around, bringing him to his knees. Carter twists harder and Banks is fighting him off hard. Finally, he gets to his feet and fires a boot into his gut, sending Carter right down to his own knees. Banks tries to twist the hands back over and put some pressure on Carter, but Dez breaks an arm free and performs an amateur style takedown! The two bounce up, Carter gets in a knee to the stomach and follows up with a snap suplex! He keeps Banks locked up... And hits another! One more, make it a hat trick! Three Amigos from Dez Carter, a tribute to the late great Eddie Guerrero! Banks is worn down from his match with Gunderson, he can't take much more punishment like this. Dez tries to pick him up and continue the (Anniversary) assault (SEE IT LIVE ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31st!), but the rookie with an open-hand uppercut! More like a slap! Banks on the offensive now, here comes a scoop slam! Carter gets up and eats a clothesline, right across the throat! Banks wants a piledriver! He gets Carter up off the mat, slams a forearm to his back, and delivers a textbook Texas Piledriver, right on the mat, but gets JUST a TWO count! Carter looks pissed and he's in referee Morgan Smythe's face. She's having none of it, and Banks turns around to focus on Carter. Or, to focus on a now standing Dez Carter. ENZIGURI! Carter needed that, and looks to regain control. He goes for a stretch plum, but Banks grabs the ropes! David Banks has used his first rope break. The two get back up on equal ground, and Carter with a Crescent kick! Right to the chest of Banks, he's dazed! Carter follows with a Jumping Roundhouse! Banks CATCHES HIS FOOT IN MIDAIR AND TURNS IT INTO AN ANKLELOCK! Carter is in intense pain, he may have to tap to avoid a broken ankle! But the crowd is behind the former Pure Honor Champion, although it's nothing against Banks. Banks pulls even harder, as hard as he could, but Dez won't tap. He forces himself up to a push-up position, ignoring the pain and fighing hard! He rolls forward, and flips Banks right off! Excellent move! Carter on the move now, here he charges a rising Banks! Forearm smash! Banks gets up, and gets nailed with a sidekick! Carter with a fisherman buster! Great move! Carter picks up his opponent onto his shoulders! Overdrive time! BANKS SLIDES OFF! Carter swings wildly behind him, but Banks ducks the blow and nails an EXPOLDER SUPLEX! Cover, that's all she wrote! ONE! TWO! THREE-NO! Dez had his foot on the rope! Dez Carter has used his first rope break. Banks jumps up, furious! He's right in Smythe's face, yelling and slapping his hands together three times! He should pay more attention to the match...not to mention that he's being ROLLED UP! ONE! TWO! THREE! Dez Carter wins by pinfall! North T. Gunderson must be relived, he has a chance to stay alive in this round-robin... but all Dez Carter has to do is beat North and he's got the title shot against Simply Beautiful.
Chicken is already in the ring when The Bee, accompanied by Nenji, bursts through the curtain, stern and silent, a three-foot bundle of intensity. Nenji helps him into the ring and THAT'S THE BELL. The Yellow Chicken starts pawing the ground... starts flapping his elbows and strutting. The Bee starts making little buzzing noises and "flies" crcles around his opponent. HOLY CRAP THIS IS RIDICULOUS. Nenji starts yelling at his client, asking him to focus. Bee charges for Chicken's kneecap, and Chicken simply lifts his leg and steps over the tiny berserker--KAPOW! Follow-through with a mule-kick that slams Bee right in the spine. That sends the little fella flyin' to the ropes.. he picks himself up, ANGRY, and explodes into a DOLL-HOUSE ON FIRE. Chicken is caught by surprise by a straight punch to his knee. Chicken instinctively tries to shove the vicious Bee off of him, but this winds up with the Bee biting his fingers! , instead. Not wishing to turn into a midget, The Chicken uses his free hand to pull The Bee up by the little insect wings sewn onto the back of his costume--and then seizes his leg, yanking! The Bee yelps in pain, freeing Chicken's hand--and now Chicken's got The Bee's arm! IT'S THE AIRPLANE RIDE--OF DOOM! To the delight of the crowd, the Yellow Chicken flies The Bee around three times, four times, FIVE TIMES, SIX TIMES around, before setting the lil' fella down. The Bee struggles to stay on his feet, but is just too cute and dizzy--POOM! He's fallen over, and the Chicken puts his hands down for the pin! ONE! TWO! SHOULDER UP! THAT ADORABLE LITTLE BEE HAS LIFTED HIS SHOULDER UP! "SQUAWK", says The Yellow Chicken, and starts clucking at the referee. Meanwhile, The Bee, wheezing, one of his diddly-bopper antennae askew, rises out of desperation and hits a high dropkick into the back of Yellow Chicken's thigh. This staggers the "big man"... and what's Nenji doing? HE'S THROWN IN THE BEE-POLINE! The Bee gets a running start, vaults onto and off the little yellow Bee-Poline... CROSSBODYNO!!!!! The Yellow Chicken's caught The Bee mid-crossbody! And he punishes him with a FALLING SLAM! And Nenji can't bear to see what happens to his client next... Chicken's got Bee's arm, twisting it just right... and climbing oto the FIRST rope, it's the COCK OF THE WALK! The Yellow Chicken's riding the ropes, a full EIGHTEEN INCHES off of the mat--ELBOW DROP! The Bee's eyes glaze over and he flops onto his back! Chicken's taking no chances on this one--he's hooking both legs with one arm! ONE! TWO! THREE! It's another win for the unstoppable YELLOW CHICKEN! The Chicken's about to have his arm raised by the ref, but the ref dodges out of the way when JEFF JAMES storms in wth a mystery bucket! Yellow Chicken isn't so lucky--SPLASH! Black, viscous goop--motor oil?--hits him square in the face, blinding him. The crowd celebration has turned to PLAYER-HATIN' as the jeers come in thick and heavy for James... James winds up off the ropes, and hits the stumbling Chicken with his patented Jumping Superkick. That chucks Chicken right in the jaw, LIGHTS OUT. That earns James some more boos as he heads back to ringside to retrieve... a pillow-case? WAIT A MINUTE! He's dumping FEATHERS all over The Yellow Chicken! That no good--this is a Tar and Feathering! Jeff James has just Tar and Feathered the Yellow Chicken! What's going to happen when these two tie up at ANNIVERSARY ASSAULT this Tuesday! Jeff James performs some mocking "bawks" at his fallen rival as we go to commercial.
Both men are in the ring, already tired from their previous matches. John Sharplin (who I hear is planning to dress up as Borat for Halloween) starts the match and Dez wastes little time in attacking Gunderson. North, to his credit, is holding his own as both men are trading hard right hand shots, until Dez lifts a knee into his opponent's gut and stops the flurry. North is whipped into the ropes and Dez with the Dragon Suplex, followed by a cover. Only two, as North shoots the shoulder up. Dez with a wicked palm strike that causes a trickle of blood to emerge from the former Thunder's nose. Dez with another Irish whip, but North reverses on him and... SUPERKICK! Big impact. North into the cover, but Dez powers out at two. North catches his breath before nailing a rising Dez with the Shining Wizard, shades of The Hurricane there. North doesn't cover again, instead opting to climb to the top rope. Dez gets to his feet and North unleashes with the top rope clothesline, doing his best Kane impression (Kane is a HOSS!) before racing to the lateral press cover. Dez manages to somehow kick out at two. North wants some on-the-canvas Lemon Lime Tang action, but Dez manages a thumb to the eye before he can get the move off and counters with a sick Tiger Driver. The move took a lot out of Dez and he takes the opportunity to rest while Asuka cheers him on from ringside. Sensing victory, Carter doesn't wait too long before unloading on North with his variety of kicks, showing off his martial arts training. A cover only leads to two, as North Gunderson proves his resiliency. Now Dez shows off his affinity for Puroresu by applying the Stretch Plumb. North is caught with nowhere to go... the agony of it all! Sharplin asks him if he gives up (doing it in his best Borat impression) but North just won't. He crawls his way to the ropes after some agonizing moments and latches on dramatically. That's a rope break. Dez keeps the move held on for as long as possible before being disqualified. Now quite sure of himself, Dez takes his time lifting North, only to be caught in a small package. Only two as Dez reverses the package, and North wisely kicks out of it. North with a desperation DDT and buys some time for himself, both men very fatigued at this point. He hits the ropes and sunset flips over Dez for the pin. Only two as Dez rings his bell with a leg clap, followed by a knees to the arms pin. North manages to free a shoulder and get it up. North with a second wind seemingly as he pulls Dez into a schoolboy, but again, only two. Both men are absolutely livid and fatigued at this point. Dez with a stiff kick to the gut and signals for The Overdrive. And he NAILS it. The cover gets one, two, three... NO. North has his foot on the ropes at the very last second. That's his second rope break. Carter doesn't know what to do, he pulls his man up... INSIDE CRADLE! ONE! TWO! THREE! NORTH WINS! Asuka is horribly upset! North collapses back to the canvas, Carter is sitting by the bottom ropes, groaning in fatigue and of course, the upset he just exprienced. But wait! North's win eaves all three men at one victory apiece. Frank Warburton gets on the mic once more. "The Round-Robin has ended with a THREE-WAY TIE... which means all three men will compete in a one fall..."
Banks on his knees, audibly cursing. He pulls North up, nails the inverted facelock backbreaker. Dez Carter is back up, he takes on Banks. Banks catches a kick, but like Owen Hart, Dez immediately counters with an enziguri to the back of his man's head. Banks blinks once, twice, thrice then collapses in dramatic HBK fashion. Dez Carter has his pick of men at this point (not that way, Tylor), and he covers North for one, two. Covers Banks! Again only two. Carter decides to pull a man up, and apparently he wants a pinfall on both opponents because he goes for North. Carter kicks North in the ribs, then a reverse kick to the back of the neck. Carter off the ropes... North comes alive! ROCK BOTTOM! Jack Jones calls it as only he can: "HOLEEE HELL! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?" North staggers back against the ropes, he's been taking a helluva pounding in this contest and the match immediately previous. Banks is also climbing to his feet. Dez Carter is looking at the ceiling blinking, as surprised as anybody by North's counter. North and Banks eye each other --- they each scramble for Dez. One, two... Banks pulls North off! One, two, North pulls Banks off! The two men stare at each other, arguing about who should pin Carter. SLAP. Banks just slapped North straight in the face. North looks backwards SUPERKICK. Out of NOWHERE. Banks crashes to the canvas. North quickly makes a cover this could be all! ONE! TWO! Dez Carter with a last second save! Carter has the full-nelson on North, hauling him up, Dragon Suplex time, North fights his way out of it and spins around, Million Dollar Dream again, Dez however has seen Bret Hart/Stone Cold and walks to the corner, using the turnbuckles to push backwards, landing on top of North for a lonnnnnng two count. Both men get back up, irish whip from North sends Dez into the ropes, reversed, North grabs the ropes to stop his momentum, Dez charges, EATS YAKUZA KICK from David Banks! North tries a clothesline, Banks ducks it and grabs a German Suplex! Hits it! He's holding on... hits a second German Suplex! Can he hit the third this time... wait a minute! Dez Carter is somehow up, he grabs the waist of David Banks and OMG. Dez Carter german suplexes David Banks who german suplexes North T. Gunderson! That's unbelievable, and you better believe North T. Gunderson got the worst of it. All three men are down as referee John Sharplin makes the standing count. The men are up before long, however, and it's the final frame. North shaking his head, trying to clear the cobwebs. Banks. Carter. North. All three men lock horns. Flying fists, kicks, palm strikes, and suddenly bodies are flying. Banks stumbles. Dez whips North --- Banks pulls down the top rope and North goes flying to the outside! That leaves only Dez Carter and David Banks in the ring. Banks grabs a German Suplex, but can't get it... Dez switches behind! He hauls his man up for the OVERDRIVE --- Banks wiggles out and down to the ankle! Ankle lock! Dez Carter immediately to the ropes, Banks pulls him back to the middle of the ring though. Referee doesn't call the break, although Dez did get his fingertips on the ropes... Dez tries to turn around, he gets a foot in Banks' chest. Banks is RELENTLESS, twisting the ankle. Carter is seconds from tapping but instead he gets a stiff kick right to the nose of Banks. That's enough to loosen the hold, and Carter nails a roundhouse kick to the side of Banks' head. Finally it's broken, but Carter is notably limping. It's time to bring out the big guns, however... Dez ascends to the top rope! But wait! David Banks follows him up. Banks with a... a thumb to the eye? The referee charges him a rope break, but Banks, desperate for the Pure Honor title shot he believes he so richly deserves, now has Dez Carter where he wants him... HOLY (BLEEP) PEPSI PLUNGE! ANGEL'S WINGS FROM THE TOP! David Banks calls it BEYOND BELIEF, and Dez Carter is DEAD. Banks stands up and tells the crowd that's IT --- And doesn't notice North T. Gunderson rushing into the ring behind! BLACKOUT! David Banks crashes through the ropes! North T. Gunderson scopes out the situation --- and hits the top rope! MOOOOONSAULT! NORTH COVERS DEZ! ONE! TWO! THREEEEEE! North T. Gunderson is going to Anniversary Assault... for a Pure Honor title shot!
